MILLER Yifat, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel
Insights into the effect of metals on amyloid aggregation mechanisms
Biography:
Yifat Miller is a Professor at the Chemistry department, Ben-Gurion University (BGU) of the Negev, Israel. She received her PhD in Chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Institute, and in 2008-2011 she did her postdoctoral at the National Institute of Health in the group of Prof. Ruth Nussinov. She received the HFSP fellowship and the NIH fellowship for postdoctoral. She then joined the department of Chemistry at BGU in 2011. Prof. Miller was awarded prizes among them Toronto prize for excellence of young faculty members and the vice-president for R&D for excellence. The research interests of Miller group focus on molecular mechanisms of metal-bindings of self-assembled peptides and amyloids, peptides as metal chelators, and prevention of amyloid aggregation in absence and in presence of metals. Miller group applies in-house de novo designed computational tools for metal-protein interactions.
