DE RICCARDIS Francesco, University of Salerno, Italy

Metals as modulators of cyclic peptoids morphology

Biography:

Prof Francesco De Riccardisis a professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Salerno. He is a synthetic chemist with strong expertise in the synthesis of natural and artificial compounds (he has authored or co-authored 110 peer reviewed publications (h-index: 30, source: web of science). He is the winner of the gold Ciamician award (Italian Chemical Society, 2001) and the Laonigro Prize (Italian Chemical Society, 1990). The research activities of Prof Francesco De Riccardisare in the framework of international collaboration projects carried out at: the Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California (prof. K.C. Nocolaou, prof. A. Eschenomoser, Dr. R. Krishnamurthy) and New York State University at Stony Brook (prof. F. Johnson). He is expert in multi-step synthesis, and in manual and automated solid phase peptide/peptoid and oligonucleotide synthesis and also in use of NMR, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy, circular dichroism, MALDI-TOF and ESI Mass spectrometry and strategic data analysis.

The activities over many years of Francesco De Riccardis were:

  • Design and synthesis of monomeric targets (bioactive steroids and polyketides) and highly complex oligomeric molecules (peptides, peptoids, natural and modified nucleic acids).
  • Isolation and spectroscopic characterization of bioactive natural products.
  • Organization of researchers, PhD and post-doc students for the design and implementation of experiments, taking on responsibilities in collaborations and in steering groups.
