SUMAN Sigridur, University of Iceland, Iceland

Cobalt peptide complexes as catalysts in CO2 activation

Biography:

Sigridur Suman is a professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Iceland. She received her B. Sc degree in chemistry from the University of Iceland, and a PhD in inorganic chemistry in 1995 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA. After a postdoctoral stay in organometallic and polymerization chemistry with Robert Wilson Jr at Stanford Research Institute (SRI) in Menlo Park, CA, USA, she was hired as a research staff member in Physical Sciences and Technology group at SRI. In 2012 she held a Senior Scientist position when she moved to University of Iceland, Reykjavik, Iceland. She established her own group in Reykjavik. Sigridur Suman’s group studies bioinorganic catalysis and inorganic synthesis, with focus of study on catalytic treatment of cyanide poisoning, and bioinspired complexes for carbon dioxide activation and transformation.
