Organometallic Catalysis in living cells with artificial metallopeptides

Biography:

Prof. M. Eugenio Vázquez completed his Chemistry degree at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela in 1996. He then pursued his PhD under the guidance of Prof. José Luis Mascareñas until 2001, when he received the HFSP long-term fellowship and joined the group of Prof. Barbara Imperiali at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he worked on the development of caged compounds and fluorescent probes from 2001 to 2004. In 2004, Prof. Vázquez returned to the University of Santiago with a Ramón y Cajal contract. He became an Associate Professor in 2010 and has been a member of the CiQUS research center since 2011. In 2023, he was promoted to Full Professor at the Organic Chemistry Department.
